Boris & Horton, our menu

One change I sought to make when taking over Boris & Horton was to give folks more food options. At the heart of this place is a belief that food is a reason to gather, linger, and connect. What began as a cozy place for coffee and canine companionship has been quietly, thoughtfully transitioning into something more expansive: a neighborhood bistro where dogs might be the initial draw, but now surprises people just as much as it delights pups.

That evolution took shape as we brought on a team with real culinary chops, and I’m grateful to have Chef Alex helming that crew! I knew what I didn’t know, and that getting someone who knew food and flavors was crucial. We landed on an East Village–inspired menu, a way to serve a little of everything by reflecting the diversity of the neighborhood around us. The result is a menu that experiments with unexpected flavor combinations and consistently punches above what the “dog café” label (and our tiny electric kitchen) might suggest is possible.

Our all-American breakfast provides a classic egg option while our breakfast burrito sings with a touch of plantain and an addicting aji verde. As the day unfolds, unique sandwiches, hearty grain bowls, and specialty salads take center stage—balanced, satisfying, and built for everything from a quick bite to a long catch-up with friends.

Some of the dishes we’re especially excited about live in that in-between space: familiar enough to feel comforting, but with small twists that make you pause and take notice. Our toasts, beef chili, and revamped grilled cheese offerings come to mind. It’s food designed for transition moments—between meetings, between dog walks, between morning routines and evening plans.

While we’ve gone well beyond espresso, coffee remains a cornerstone. Our journey to Devocion is a topic we could dive into in its own profile another time, but we are still obsessing over the perfect shot, ensuring that whether you’re settling in for the afternoon or grabbing something to go, the caffeine lives up to the food.

And of course, our four-legged guests are part of this story too. From fresh baked cakes and barkuterie to playful forays into full doggy dinners—like our Lady and the Tramp Spaghetti Night, Pupsgiving, and our upcoming Valentine’s night —we’ve been exploring what hospitality looks like for everyone at the table.

Boris & Horton’s menu reflects where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re headed: rooted in community, open to change, and always better when shared. 🐾
